On Saturday, April 30th, the dogs were going nuts barking. I looked out the window to see if another stray dog had showed up. Well, it wasn't a dog, but it was a couple of strays. A peacock and a peahen were strolling across our front yard. The photo is fuzzy since I took it through the closed window.

About a 40 foot stretch of road was completely under water after the heavy rains on the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2009. Do we go for it or not?

We almost turned around and went back home. But, then we decided to go for it.

As you can imagine, if the roads around here flood like this during a rainstorm... Just imagine how bad it will be when the hurricane weather hits us! This is Half-Pint. She was a Cat Ranch foster before we merged with Acadiana Humane Society. She was adopted as a kitten. She was returned on April 18, 2009 as her owner was having health issues. Half-Pint is again available for adoption: search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=4771063 Because we have no more room at my Cat Ranch, Half-Pint was set up in the Petco Adoption Center after our adoption event on Saturday the 18th. She will remain in Petco until she is adopted, or until foster space opens up.

Honey Bunny Fundraiser for Acadiana Humane Society! Today, Saturday, April 11th is the last day to participate.

Contrary to Easter time hype, rabbits and small children are not a good match. The exuberance of even the gentlest toddler is stressful for the sensitive rabbit. Humane organizations, such as Acadiana Humane Society see a huge increase in the number of abandoned rabbits after Easter. Please help us stop this yearly cycle!

Great Harvest is donating 20% to the Acadiana Humane Society for every Honey Bunny sold!
